The Great Hillesley Bike Ride June 2005 - 27+ mile ride

The route map did NOT specify this as a mandatory R&R point... apparently it was the 'bicycles' that needed the rest... their riders simply had no choice in the matter!!

Riding home from Shipton Moyne, we carried on past Westonbirt School and the Beaufort Polo Ground, then through Leighterton and onwards home to cream tea and cakes on Hillesley playing field!

Thanks as always to everyone who came along and supported this event - it is quite a challenge choosing a route, riding it, 'mapping' it... and it is wonderful when so many villagers turn out to support us. We had over 50 cyclists yet again, with a couple from Nind joining in too! Next year's route is already in hand - with a fabulous hill to conquer, but then the prize is lots of truly tranquil lanes. A bbq lunch-stop is being planned at a pub... so keep the second Sunday in June free (June 11th for those of you with a diary to hand).
